Taking the ride to new heights: Amusement Technical delivers a new control system for 33m Ferris wheel

Amusement Technical, one of the world’s leading ride automation and technical services companies for theme park rides, announced today the successful delivery and commissioning of a new control system for a 33m Ferris Wheel located in the Netherlands.

Replacing a legacy DC drive system, this latest iteration is Amusement Technical’s seventh retrofit control system solution for an observation wheel.

Fully EN13814 compliant, the newly installed control system enhances reliability, efficiency, and passenger safety by integrating the latest in monitoring, fail-safe operations, and intuitive operator interfaces. Designed to meet international safety standards, the control system ensures smooth ride performance while reducing downtime and simplifying maintenance. The solution incorporates a range of functions to ease operation including automatic loading sequence functionality.

“Ferris wheels are iconic attractions that demand the highest levels of safety and dependability,” comments Sean Brian, Director, Amusement Technical. “Our new control system combines cutting-edge automation with robust safety features as well as improved operational resilience giving operators complete confidence while delivering an enhanced rider experience for riders.”

The modular system can be installed on any manufacturer of Ferris wheels with 2, 4 or 8 drive motors. The engineering is suitable to directly retrofit both DC and hydraulic legacy systems.

As with all Amusement Technical systems this wheel control was designed, manufactured and commissioned by Amusement Technical’s in-house TUV certified functional engineers. The design review process was conducted by TUV Nord.
